CEMEX launched a new line of state-of-the-art cement bagging and palletizing capacity at the San Pedro de Macoris cement plant in the Dominican Republic. Held on April 5th, the inauguration ceremony was attended by Danilo Medina, President of the Dominican Republic.
The new line increases CEMEX’s cement bagging capacity in the Dominican Republic by over 1.5 million bags per month, equivalent to 800,000 tons of bagged cement per month. With an investment of approximately RD$400 million (around U.S.$8 million), this new bagging line is part of a two-year expansion plan that should enable CEMEX to increase the capacity of its San Pedro de Macoris cement plant, the largest and most efficient in the Caribbean region.
“This is the first of several significant investments that CEMEX will make in the Dominican Republic. In the coming years, we will expand our photovoltaic power plant, modify and expand our oil mill, and adapt our cement plant to include these additions,” said Carlos Emilio Gonzalez, President of CEMEX Dominican Republic.
This investment reaffirms CEMEX’s commitment to be a valuable partner in the development and growth of the Dominican Republic.
