CEMEX Program promotes health and safety initiatives to customers in the Philippines
August 23, 2016
The SHIELD program is designed to extend CEMEX’s health and safety values to its retail and institutional partners in the Philippines.
As a global business, we believe it is our duty to contribute to the top priorities outlined by the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Goal 3 is to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all, at all ages, which we support by declaring health and safety CEMEX’s top priority and promoting community health through special programs.
In the Philippines, this commitment led us to launch the SHIELD (Safety and Health Initiatives for Enablers, Leaders, and Doers) Program to promote the importance of health and safety to our various customers’ employees and contractors in the country.
As part of the program, CEMEX provides hardware store employees and workers with “Health Wallets” which can be used to redeem medical services like consultations and check-ups. CEMEX also installed first-aid cabinets for employees in almost 100 hardware stores across the Philippines. Construction worksites were also furnished with essential safety signage.
CEMEX is committed to conducting business in a manner that protects the health and safety of our employees, contractors, visitors, customers and the communities in which we operate. The SHIELD program is designed to extend CEMEX’s health and safety values to its retail and institutional partners in the Philippines. CEMEX proactively trains its employees and contractors to become safety leaders who will promote high safety standards and best practices in the construction industry and in the communities where we operate.
“As a company that upholds a culture of health and safety in its operations, CEMEX aims to lead the way towards practicing high safety standards in the construction industry and encourages our partners and customers to do the same,” said Camille Ladores, CEMEX marketing officer in the Philippines.
SHIELD is just one of CEMEX’s programs in the Philippines that aims to make safety a part of its employees’ everyday lives. Other initiatives include regular wellness programs for workers and their families, the Ligtas 24-Oras Program, and the Listo Tayo! Road Safety Campaign for children which has already impacted over 10,000 students in the Philippines.
