CEMEX, S.A.B. de C.V. (“CEMEX”) (NYSE: CX) announced today that it supplied approximately 16,000 cubic meters of ready-mix concrete for the expansion of the Continental Automotive Group’s technology development center in Regensburg, Germany.

CEMEX Germany produced different types of products such as concrete of various compressive strengths and cement with low hydration heat development for the construction project on Siemensstraße in Regensburg. With the biggest order produced by CEMEX during 2018, the total quantity supplied amounted to approximately 16,000 cubic meters.

The Continental Automotive Group already operates two development centers at its largest site worldwide. One of these centers now has two additional wings with approximately 26,000 square meters of usable space for up to 1,400 workplaces. The new building is expected to be ready for occupancy in the third quarter of 2019. Continental employs around 8,000 people in Regensburg.
 

For the ceilings, walls, and columns of the new building’s wings, CEMEX produced about 10,000 cubic meters of ready-mix concrete. Also, CEMEX Concrete Delivery assigned concrete pumping equipment from its plants in Pentling and Nuremberg to the large-scale construction site.

In addition to innovative working environments, the new building includes a cafeteria, a café on the roof terrace, and an underground car park. A small cogeneration plant and a photovoltaic system help minimize the structure’s ecological footprint. The building is certified according to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) specifications, an internationally recognized certification system for environmentally friendly and sustainable construction.
